Texas - Wind Farm
Increasingly the large corporates are quoting
ambitious carbon offsetting targets, which energy efficiency and on site renewables
will struggle to meet.
As such, off-site solutions such as wind farms - with the appeal of sizeable carbon savings and favourable paybacks - are becoming popular, if not a necessity, if targets are to be met.
For some months now, Perpetual Energy has been working with a number of clients to identify and develop sites in the UK and abroad.
The first of these projects to reach "fruition" is a wind farm development in Texas, which is now consented for 1200MW. The first 60MW's are on schedule to be installed by mid 2009. The size of the development is such that there is the potential for further partners.
Additional information on the site is:
- Current holdings totalling 50,000 permitted (consented) acres with a capacity of 1200MW
- Average wind speeds of 9.5m/s and excellent grid connections
- Acquisition of land is expected to total 50,000 acres by Dec 2007
- Construction investment in excess of £1billion over the next 3-5 years
We are now investigating potential sites in Scotland, Wales and the following States in the USA: New Mexico, Michigan, Illinois, Kansas, and South Dakota.
