'A' GRADE WOOD CHIP
All wood chip from Perpetual Energy is compliant with the RHI incentive scheme.
There are different grades of wood chip available. Typically grades A, B and C (Perpetual Energy does not supply the lowest grade C chip as it does not meet their strict quality criteria). Recycled A grade woodchip is beneficial in that it has a higher calorific value than Virgin wood chip and is lower in price per tonne.
Grade A is recycled or used wood that is natural or mechanically processed typically pallets and packaging materials and is an excellent source of fuel. It requires screening in order to remove any contaminants that are not found in its natural state. No fossil fuel contamination – paint, treatment, MDF or plywood are used. Perpetual Energy create an RHI compliant wood chip blend that delivers the highest quality and product results. Perpetual Energy, recycle to generate their Grade A wood, proving a popular biomass fuel with clients that are serious about environmental sustainability.
Perpetual Energy can process your wood chip to your required chip size to suit any boiler.
The moisture content levels of wood chip is important. If the moisture content is too high it can cause a boiler to shut down or give poor calorific burn value per tonne of wood. Also, if it is too low and the wood chip is too dry, it will burn too quickly. Having a reliable supply of high quality wood chip at the correct moisture content is one of the most significant factors affecting the operation of a biomass boiler. Perpetual Energy deliver A grade wood chip produced to quality standards at a consistent moisture content, with a consistent range of particle sizes, free from contamination, resulting in a fuel is matched to modern highly efficient boilers.
